Should I report parents as neglect, there is NEVER nutritious food in the house RSS feed

Anonymous
So I’ve been a nanny for this family for a while, things were better in the beginning, but the last few months they’re going through a divorce and that child is totally being neglected. They both yell at him non stop, and there’s also not enough food for the child in either house (dad or mom). They mostly live off of sandwiches and mom says child doesn’t like meat, so she won’t cook meat. Well he doesn’t like it because she never cooks it and stuffs him with bread! I tried to cook too she won’t even let me cook!
I’m about to quit for other reasons as well, but after asking hundreds of times for more food, and sometimes picking up food myself, is this a case for CPS? I don’t want to burn bridges but if that’s what it takes to give this kid food I’m willing to go that way….
What should I do? Any advice is highly appreciated! Thank you!

Yes, call CPS over feeding a child a sandwich. They should fire you.

OP here
I hope you have food in your fridge , or do you eat sandwiches for every lunch and every dinner and every other breakfast

Is there literally no other food? How old is the child?
What reason do they give for lack of food and what do they eat for meals?
Anonymous
CPS does not care about this.

I think you could actually be quite healthy eating a sandwich for every meal of every day, so I’m not sure what you are talking about there. (It all depends on what is in the sandwiches.)

Are they feeding them sandwiches or is there no food?
Which is it? If there is actually no food and the kid is not being fed, absolutely call CPS.

Yes we eat a lots of sandwiches and basic food. The issue is are the kids being fed, yes. You sound terrible.

OP, you talk about the absence of meat, which many people limit or totally avoid. You didn’t mention anything about veggies, veggies and especially herbs, which can be used to make healthy sandwiches.

OP, since you say that there are other reasons you are leaving this family, could the food issue just be the icing on the cake??

While I understand your concern here > it doesn’t appear the child is being malnourished or starved here (from what I have read,) so I likely would not report to CPS.

I think CPS resources may be quite limited in so I would only call them in the event if I witnessed a child being severely neglected or abused by a parent.

I don't get the nasty responses.....TROLLS!
Sadly CPS would probably not care. What about reaching out to Grandparents and the childs school with your concerns. TELL SOMEONE. That way you share your concerns with people who can possibly help and are just made aware of the conditions in the home.
How about making food in your home and bring it in to 'share' with the child. Parent can't stop you bringing in food for yourself to eat and letting the child have some.
That is what I would do and have done.
Good luck to you and don't listen to the morons on this site who should not be caring for a spider never mind children. Nasty, nasty people.

It's not nasty or trolling to tell OP that they are out of line. This is not a CPS issue. End of story.

The only “moron” on this thread is you.

Thank you for your nice response! I don’t get those nasty people either, must be fat people who eat sandwiches and Macdonald’s all day and are just miserable. This MB is very controlling, she told me not to bring food for myself, and in the interview she told me that good will be HER decisions and I should not be like a boss about it. many times she gave me lists that saod
monday lunch salmon brocolli
monday dinner chicken corn.. for ever day
however, she never bought the food even if i asked her many times, she blew me off. i told her i love to cook and dont mind throwing some pasta on ir throw some chicken in the oven and steam some brocolli
instead the kid just eats waffles or cereal for breakfast, PBJ or ham and cheese sandwiches for lunch and more bread for dinner
i wish i was kidding! and no veggies and barely any fruit.
im trying to just ignore it, but its really getting to me now. in other jobs i would cook more and have fruits available

This does not meet criteria for CPS involvement.

You disagree with the parent's dietary choices and the way they speak to their kids. I might agree with you. It doesn't matter.

Sounds like a pretty bad fit for you OP and you should be looking for something else.
