Keeping Nanny when kids are in School? RSS feed

If you kept your nanny once your kids all started school, how did things work? Were the hours, responsibilities, and pay affected?

Pay doesn’t change. She can be a house manager. Grocery shopping, meal prep, laundry, receiving packages and I’m sure she would have the kids when they’re sick, or teacher work days

Just figure out what works for her. Children need stability as much as possible.

We felt it was worth the continuity to pay the nanny for full time despite the kids being in school, and that sure came to fruition during the pandemic.

I was a house manager for many years. I did all the shopping, made dinner, post office, dry cleaning, let repair people inside , hardware store, hot cars serviced.

PP: I assume you were also going all the kid duty like preparing their lunches, getting them to school, homework help, transporting to their extracurriculars and play dates, etc? As well as minding them when were home sick or they school holidays, summer vacation that didn't coincide with your PTO? Asking because the house manager stuff is a nice luxury but the kid duty is what allows us to pay for a nanny/house manager.
