New Nanny Job RSS feed

About three months ago I interviewed for a summer nanny position. I was offered the job through an email stating the pay and weeks to work. During our interview, they asked if I was committed to make sure they weren’t scrambling for childcare at the last second. I babysat for them a couple of times over the next couple months while I was still taking college classes, and everything went great. I got an email a couple weeks ago saying that they changed their mind because the grandparents would now be in town to watch the kids. Now I am left scrambling for a job, with most of the internship and nannying positions filled in my town. Thoughts or advise?

Unless you had a contract, there’s nothing you can do, unfortunately.

You should have taken a retainer fee to hold your services for that long.

They will want you soon enough again. Grandparents are usually burnt out in couple of weeks. They forgot that taking care of a kid is no joke. You can still be nice and offer them to babysit, that way when grandparents are done, you will have the job.

Bull. Screw me once. Shame on you. Screw me twice, Shame on me. They screwed her once so why would she ever trust them again. OP, you dodged a bullet. Move one and do not look back.
