College sitter as vacation coverage/dog sitter RSS feed

Hi all
We have 22yo college sitter who has been working with us since September, about 20 hours a week. We’re going away for spring break and she’s going to be staying at our house to puppy sit. She offered to do it and our dog does better at home so it’s a good solution. Today I was going through the details with her and she asked if her boyfriend could stay too as she’d be nervous if she was alone. We haven’t met him but we trust her. Would you set any boundaries or rules? All I care about is that our dog is happy and the house is in good shape when we return. Thank you

No. I'd jokingly say help yourself to anything (but haha not the really nice wine/scotch!) and add just what you said - feel free to do what you like as long as the dog is happy and the house is in good shape when we return.

I’d be ok with it too. I’ve had teen sitters house sit ( 17/18) and I’ve told them they can have friends over if they want but no parties. If they’re happy they’ll want to come back.

Thanks yes I figure if I trust her with my kids I can trust her with anything. She’s very quiet and doesn’t seem to be the party type. But I’ll mention no parties just in case! We’re hoping she’ll help us again next school year and if so this will work out well for both of us. She’s a really mature and conscientious employee which we appreciate

Sounds like you found a great sitter! We have never had any issues with this type of scenario - honestly, I’d stock the fridge and come back to find they didn’t feel comfortable even touching the food. If anything I was begging them to make themselves at home haha.
