We've used Sure Payroll for a while with our nanny, who used to live in VA (we live in VA, she works at our house in VA).
She just moved to DC and now Sure Payroll won't process payroll without a Tax ID # for DC unemployment taxes (we did get a Tax ID # for DC income taxes) but DC won't give us a tax ID number for unemployment because she doesn't work in DC. I wouldn't think this would be this complicated. Has anyone gone through this? Any advice? |
Call GTM they're great and deal with this all the time |
Sure Payroll is right - you really do need the DC unemployment tax number (based on the work location). But she will only pay income tax to VA, not DC (based on her home address). I recommend calling DC. |
Oh wait, sorry! I read that backwards. You should be fine! All you need is the VA unemployment tax ID and the DC income tax one. Sure Payroll handled this for me no problem. Call or email their customer service - they are usually very good. |
Don’t they have a 2 week delay in payments? Some nannies don’t agree to that. |
