How many months in advance do I need to search for an au pair?

It never happened to us (we are on AP #6). It takes about a month to interview. Then we use the time to get to know each other better beforehand. Other families may have a different approach. |

You need to leave time for them to get their visa, so the minimum is three months for out of country. |

| Think of it this way. Other families are working up to 6 months out and may select more qualified candidates. You get wheoever is left. Doesn't mean there won't be great candidates for you though. |

| I got my best au pair 7 weeks out and my worst one 6 months out. I usually do 4 months out. This time around might try 2-3 months out. I don’t think there is a best time to look. |
