Our nanny says she’ll happily take on extra hours to do errands or household tasks for us while the kids are at school. We already have a housekeeper who does most cleaning and laundry. What things would you suggest? I know she wants the hours and I’d like to give her some tasks, and of course take a few things off my plate. On my list so far is:
Pick up / drop off dry cleaning Take cars to be washed, or for repairs / maintenance Take boxes to be mailed Pick up groceries or target orders I’ve placed online |
Buy and wrap gifts for kids birthday parties. |
Don't kids usually like to do this--go to the store to pick out the gift for their friend? |
You sounds to be a great Employer. For treating your nanny as a nanny and help her with those extra hours that she is asking; which it's additional. That's very nice of you. |
No. Mine don’t. And with covid receding and birthday parties coming back in full force, this is a task that I love having nanny handle. And she wraps beautifully! |
So she has cared for good kids and know they’re in school you have cut her hours? Nice. |
Your kids that should say |
My kids haven't been in a retail store in two years. We have to be extra cautious. |
I agree with the above poster. Your nanny shouldn’t have to take on extra tasks. I had 10 hours a week paid while the kids were at school and I never got asked to take on additional tasks. |
Ohhh is this what the mom is doing? I thought she has been nice paying all her guaranteed hrs; no matter kids are or not at school. I have understood she is trying to help her nanny with extra task, since the nanny was looking to make extra more money outside her work hours. |
I’m currently sitting at home on call, while the kids are at school. It’s a pandemic, I don’t end to be doing errands and my boss wouldn’t ask me to do that! I’ll bet you expect your nanny to be free on school holidays and days off, even if you were giving her extra hours while the kids are in school? |
*weren’t giving her extra hours |
cooking, cook prep. |
Absurd you expect to be paid for nothing. |
Or, she can let the nanny go and find someone who will work less hours. |
