ND tested positive- is nanny required to work?

Hello!

Are nannies required to show to work if one of the parents tests positive for Covid and is self-quarantining in the basement? Other parent has to work from home, therefor, childcare is still required.
If taking off, how many days it’s normal- 10 days, until the test comes back negative?

It should be left up to the nanny to decide. As a nanny, I would choose to work (triple vaxxed, live alone, hibernate on weekends) but I respect those who don’t.

I’m live-in, so I work unless I’m too sick.

Every nanny I know has this written in their contract. For some, they work as long as the covid + person is quarantined. Others only work after getting negative results from the rest of the household 5-10 days after exposure. Others don’t go in a house with exposure, let alone quarantine and covid. It all depends on what everyone prioritized.

Agreed with PP at 10:38. Honestly much respect to families who already have this written in the contract with the nanny and never try to talk nanny into working or even leaving it up for discussion. Everyone knows what to expect. The same would be expected of the nanny- if she tested positive, the idea of her coming in to work would be a hard no understandably so the same apply to nanny so she doesnt get sick. COVID particles can still linger in the air and on surfaces and can get passed to children during quarantine which exposes the nanny.
