We want to hire a babysitter we've used in the past to be our part-time nanny. She's watched my kids 4 times and they really like her. She has also watched my friend's children several times, AND she lives down the street from my friend, who also knows her mother.
I feel like I'm supposed to have a background check on file for a nanny. However, I've heard (mostly on dcum) that most online background checks are unreliable and turn up lots of false info. And it seems like overkill in this situation to have her do a fingerprint background check. Thoughts? |
I'd definitely pull a driving check at a minimum if she will be driving your kids.

Use gtm or other reputable company. |
Yes, a LOT of online background check companies are a joke.
I would not waste my $$. I do not think you need to run a background check on her - however as other posters have mentioned, if she will be driving your child, I would ask for a clean/current DMV report. |
If you're in MD you can do a judiciary case search. Public info. |
Yes 100%. We have never hired any non-family member to take care of our child without a background check. |
