Au Pairs from South Africa

We had an interview with an au pair from South Africa whom we really like. We’re aiming for a January start date, but the agency hinted that getting a visa from South Africa could take more time since it just reopened. Any thoughts on this? We’re also interviewing some from Columbia which I understand is likely to process a visa quickly, but I would had to have that be the deciding factor and we feel torn. Appreciate any insight you can share and thanks!

The only thought I would to share is that the country of "Colombia" is different from "Columbia" which is the female national personification of the United States. That is all. Carry on.

I just matched with an AP from SA and they are saying 8 weeks and girls are getting appts quickly.

What are you doing about your match from SA in light of the new travel restrictions? We were about to match with someone from there, but now it seems like we have to start over. It's so frustrating.

We’re planning to discuss w agency on Monday since we haven’t heard from them since the ban was announced. We might wait but we’re aiming for a January start so not clear if we can.
