What is your quarantine protocol when your overseas au pair arrives? RSS feed

Our next ap will arrive in a couple of weeks. I'm thinking of asking her to wear a mask in the house whenever she's not in her room, get her tested on day 4, and then lift the quarantine once we get a negative result. So it would be around 6-7 days if all goes well. In reality, how does it work? Do you ask to eat every meal in her room? To complicate things, her birthday is a few days after arrival, so we want to celebrate it with her.

Your approach sounds reasonable to me. We did not quarantine, but our AP was vaccinated and this was before the Delta variant was everywhere….

Can you get her a hotel room for the first week? Is she vaccinated?

She's had her first dose of the AZ vaccine, but is out of time for the 2nd one. I was not planning on putting her in a hotel room.

A hotel room seems over the top and expensive. You can always have her keep her mask on inside until she gets her second dose here and/or tested.

There are so many places where you can walk in and get a second dose without an appointment. Whatever you decide, make sure you are very open and upfront about what house rules you will have if the delta variant spikes.
