Does anyone have experience purchasing a short term disability insurance policy that covers maternity leave for their nanny? I have just started exploring this topic with a few phone calls to insurance agencies with no luck, they said they would need to get it through their employer, but I am their employer and trying to offer fair benefits.
Ideally we would want to have coverage so that our nanny could take proper paid leave, we could hire someone for that time temporarily and then have our long term nanny come back, without having to pay for 2 full time nannies at the same time. Thank you! |
Insurance is intended to be long term. You pay in every months, frequently for years, before you need to make large claims on it. |

I haven't looked into it too much, but maybe aflac? |
Is it an “if nanny gets pregnant” or a “when nanny gets pregnant” issue?
You’d be better off squirreling away the cost of the high premiums and use that money IF nanny gets pregnant. If it a when situation, the insurance will be exorbitantly high if it even exists. |
If it's a "nanny is pregnant now" situation, you're SOL. |
Are you in DC? DC nannies now qualify for paid maternity leave as of this past year.
