Nannies how do you feel about employers not wearing mask
Even if fully vaccinated(both employers and nanny) I’m a nanny fully vaccinated so is my employers but they don’t wear masks when They are out and about I still wear mines Will you feel In danger if your employer stop wearing mask out? |
My employers do wear masks when ou-and-about (as do I) but from everything I’m reading, we really don’t have to. I would voice my concerns to them, OP, honestly explain your concerns for yourself and your charges. |
I’m not working for anyone who is traipsing off to indoor events and stores and not masking. Skipping the mask outside is fine. |
Vaccines work.
"Trust the science!" Stop living in fear. If you are vaccinated and your employers are vaccinated you are safe and cannot spread Covid 19. |
The vaccine is ~95% effective against the original strain and less effective against the ever-increasing number of variants. If covid were the same severity as the flu, I wouldn't care. But it's very different, more severe, and it doesn't seem to follow the normal immune rules. |
I would worry about my unvaccinated charges but not myself.
Your employers are idiots, btw, and selfish parents. You just keep being safe, OP. The chances of them getting it and you getting it from them are remote. And even if that happened, you wouldn’t get horribly sick. Not one person in this country who was vaccinated and then got covid has been hospitalized for it. |
NOT TRUE AT ALL. You can still spread it if you're vaccinated. |
We’re still wearing masks indoor when not eating at a restaurant. Not sure if our nanny will now that CDC says fully-vaxxed people don’t need to except in crowded places. She’s been considerate and careful with our DD so I’ll trust her to make her own decisions. |
My employers and I had this discussion today
They will not be wearing mask starting today I will be wearing mines still Not sure how to feel about no mask |
So I think the CDC and our dear leader are correct. Since I am vaccinated I will not wear a mask unless the store/restaurant requires it.
I promise not to look down on the mask wearers and call them science deniers. |
I'm high risk (asthma, overweight, etc), she's high risk (her business, but she disclosed the risk at least!), and he's low risk. Three low risk kids.
We had the discussion (again) today. Because none of the kids can be vaccinated and 2/3 of us are still high risk, we all feel safer by continuing what we're doing indoors (masks inside buildings except when only with vaccinated adults in the pod) and adding more unmasked outdoor activities. Kids will remain masked outside, because that's what our groups have decided, especially since we have two toddlers and a preschooler in the pod, and they don't mask or don't keep them on. |
Real question. If you are high risk why don't you get the vaccine? |
All three adults are vaccinated. That doesn't mean that we aren't in the ~5% for whom the vaccine is not effective. |
You're not understanding the science correctly (which is reasonable as it's complicated!) It isn't that the vaccine is ineffective for 5% of the population.
If you are fully vaccinated, and if you have no underlying conditions which put you at higher risk of being exposed to life's myriad viruses/bugs/illnesses, then you can and should feel safe without a mask. It's going to take us all a while to recover from the trauma of the pandemic and maskless comfort is a clear marker of that. It will be ok. It actually already is for those of us the DC metro area. |
Get vaccinated and if it makes you feel comfortable wear your mask. You can't control others and you shouldn't worry about other's opinions. Mask wearing should have never been politicized. |
