SO does the visa ban expire tomorrow? Has anyone heard anything??? |
That is what it looks like: https://www.aupairusa.org/host-family/visa-travel-restrictions/
|
Nice long list of no entry countries... |
Yeah, the travel ban is still a big issue. |
yup, and they are no longer processing NIEs in the banned countries |
When do you all think various travel bans will be lifted? I haven’t seen anything in the news but I have to imagine restrictions will start coming up as more are vaccinated, especially given the cdc said it’s ok to travel if you have been vaccinated |
The issue is that they have barely started vaccinations in the source countries, so US officials are wary of allowing people from higher infection countries into the US - and rightfully so unfortunately. I bet they will lift it in June/July at the earliest |
there are too many variants, especially in Brazil. travel ban likely won't be lifted any time soon. vaccine rollout too slow, and people are getting too complacent in the US (yeah, if you advertise how cool of a host family you are because you are galavanting and travelling despite covid, I am talking to you) |
I matched two weeks ago. AP got visa appt for today and was approved. No issues, no NIE as too late. Argentina. |
Question is not getting the visa, but being able to use it. There are few countries where there is not a ban in place on ENTERING the us. Separate from Visa question. PP, you should check status of Argentina. |
Update is that now they have reinstated the NIEs, but ONLY for the banned countries. |
I'm anon poster above who matched with au pair from Argentina on 3/23. She did get her visa (appt was 4/7, visa picked up today). The flight is scheduled to arrive 5/1. They are limiting the commercial flights in Argentina at present due to Covid surge so it took a little longer than normal turnaround but not bad. |
