Hi Nannies and Families!
I'm a former career nanny, now working mom of 2 as an agency owner in another major city. My husband has a job opportunity in the DC area and we are weighing our options right now. Is there a need for another reputable, honest nanny agency in the area? My niche is having the privilege of relating to both professional career nannies and working parents. Our agency believes in career development and ongoing education for our nannies along with quick, long lasting placements for our clients. Our average time to fill positions is within two weeks and almost always place nannies within 2-4 weeks of receiving their application. I truly have a passion for easing the stress of finding childcare for busy parents and helping amazing nannies secure long term positions with fair pay and benefits. I've looked up the agencies in DC on Google and it seems like really high placement fees with mixed reviews. I've also searched post history here and haven't found many positive experiences working with agencies on either end. I'd welcome any input from either nannies or families. Thank you! |
Mother of two here, currently looking for a nanny. I think it would depend on your fees and how much of a difference you could provide. For example, we interviewed a seemingly fantastic nanny, (among many others) with long experience and stellar references. She is communicative, responsive, seems to have good judgement. After we hired her, however, she ended up spending an hour on her phone while with the kids because "an issue came up" with a package she was supposed to have received a day earlier, and this was during the trial assignment while I was also home. She interviewed like the cream of the crop but then turned out so easily distractible that we are having a change of heart. I am not sure an agency could have helped. |
Didn’t you just post this a while ago? |
Not the OP, but it sounds like your Nanny had a horrible work ethic. Since this incident occurred during the trial period, perhaps you could have notified the agency (if she was from one) and the agency could have sent you another Nanny. Just brainstorming right now. ![]() |
