My employer is doing self quarentine in a couple of weeks. She is going to see her mom and dad... but the problem I see and need help with, is that she is going for a month and said she can pay me for the 2 weeks she will self quarentine but not the 2 other weeks she will go visit her parents... do you think this is right? I think nannies works like daycares you pay for the space this is my only job and I am not willing to use my vacation for her to go have a good time because I want to use my days for myself and my family time. I have been with them for almost a year and I only get 2 weeks pay vacation, no holidays at all not even labor day. Should I tell her? I want to tell her but I am scare to loose my job specially during this pandemic I need my job and I really love her child.
Thanks! |
She needs to pay you!! |
MB here—she should pay you. If this is happening before March 31, it’s possible she is applying for the FFCRA tax credit for the two quarantine weeks. Her vacation weeks would obviously not qualify. |
Of course she should pay you for the full month. It’s her decision to not have your work - not yours. If she doesn’t agree, start looking for a new nanny position immediately and don’t go back when your current boss is done with quarantine.
Explain guaranteed hours to your new employer. - an employer of a great nanny. |
She needs to pay you for the entire time or take the two weeks and find another job. |
Start looking for a new job now. Work until she quarantines, use those two weeks to find a new job, make sure she pays you for the weeks she quantined, then let her know that she’ll need a new nanny when she gets back, because you can’t be without a paycheck for 2 weeks. |
I talked to her on Friday and asked her about the other 2 weeks she said that I still have my pay leave that if I wanted I could take those 2 weeks too and of course accept it because I am looking for another family but honestly I don't feel appreciated by them... she is only thinking about her convenience... if you know about a family in Arlington, Virginia or Washington, DC please let me know.
Thank you! |
