I was looking at the descriptions of people who can get the coronavirus vaccine in group 1b. It says "childcare providers." It seems like a nanny would fall into that category. Has anyone been able to find any additional descriptions or advice? |
What if she doesn’t want to get it until after you do? ...After all, there’s a certain level of risk with brand new vaccines. |
Yes. At least I hope so. Nannies are considered in this category in California and a number of other states. |
Stop. It’s not OP’s question and a really stupid, tired comment. |
Yes- I found more info and no, nannies don’t fall into this categories. Only teachers and day care stuff. |
Link? |
Not all counties in California have said nannies will fall under childcare. Some like, LA, only consider those in a childcare facility (like daycare) essential for the vaccine under tier 1b1. But local nannies are trying to help with that. We have been on the phone and emailing the county, mayor and public health departments for days now. It looks like LA just forgot about the domestic help. Also according to them it’s where you work (in LA) not where you live. This is also, just for LA county. Pasadena, BH, etc have their own take. It’s going to be a mess. If you are in California, I’d suggest contacting your local public health department to see if they actually mean nannies when they say childcare. While California deemed them essential for those who worked for essential parents it may not hold water for the vaccine. |
We need to vaccinate according to exposure level. Doctors and healthcare personnel in hospitals, grocery store employees, daycare personnel, teachers, etc. Nannies have much lower risk. |
What about a nanny who works with multiple families? Anyone know about Virginia? |
Of course but a lot of nannies work for the people you just mentioned And this whole post is about are nannies in tier 1b If you have an issue with that bring it up on your own comment thread not trolling along someone else’s |
Where did you read that? Mayor Garcetti made nannies essential workers and we do childcare. Where have you read that Nannies are excluded? I haven’t seen that anywhere and I’ve been looking. |
I have been through VA plan and it is vague. I tried to call Alexandria DOH to get an answer and the five times I called I got voicemail and the box is full. So I filled out Alexandria’s form they have for 1B saying I was the employer of a childcare provider. It’s pretty clear from my app it’s a nanny. I’m letting DOH decide. If they reject my application so be it! |
I believe in VA nannies are eligible under this group |
This is hooey.
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/acip/meetings/downloads/slides-2020-12/slides-12-20/02-COVID-Dooling.pdf Daycare workers are frontline. Nannies are 1c, IF they are essential (if your employer isn’t essential, neither are you). |
Not for taking care of one child! |
