| You don't have any obligations- but you do not get reimbursed for the educational piece. So, if you get another au pair, you are on the hook for another 500-1000. |

It depends on your agency's policy, which should be clearly spelled out.
In our first year hosting we let the ap take all her vacation during the first 6 months. She then initiated rematch right after. We kicked ourselves for that one and considered it a learning experience. We did pay for her class but it hadn't begun yet, so were able to get a refund. |

You have no obligations to pay for vacation or classes; unless ap has already taken class or vacation; then you get nothing back.

I took a rematch candidate and had to lay a pro rata
Share of education and even vacation time even though the prior family made her take the vacation. Sucked. |
