another 6 month program extension? RSS feed

I heard in another forum about there maybe being another 6 month extension for au pairs (such as ones who are scheduled to leave after December). Does anyone know about this?

My au pair just told us that there’s another extension for au pairs whose term finishes between January & June 2021. She’s super sad because she finishes in August and would love to stay longer. Maybe it’ll change again.

I think they will offer another one if the pandemic continues to keep embassies closed.

I received something from Cultural Care about this. It includes au pairs in their second year who are scheduled to leave between December and June (or around those times I think). We're jumping on it and couldn't be more thrilled, but need the exact details, program fees, etc from CCAP first.

Our Au Pair missed this extension by 3 days. Her visa expires on July 3. We are all really hoping they offer another extension!

Our Au pair is in her second year (first with us), and already got an extension. We were told she couldn’t get another. She feels stuck and doesn’t want to be out of status. She was also really looking forward to going home and seeing her family. She applied for a b2 visa to stay as a tourist, but no clue how long that might take.

She’s feeling very stuck, and so are we. She wanted to go home, but a) it’s very difficult for her to get back to her home country due to limited flights and b) once she gets back to her country, it’s shut down and she can’t actually get to her home which is 10 hours away. Oh, and covid is raging here and there. And she lives with her older grandparents there. This just stinks all around.

We are in the exact same situation. I was prepared to move on from the program but now have a girl with nowhere to go who can't extend. She has only been with us a short time and we weren't planning to keep her. She has now asked to stay and while i would rather she leave I don't to put her on a plane home where she can't work or leave her home. I have told her we will keep things as is for a while as she awaits her tourist visa but I am fearful I will be stuck in this situation for a while.
