APs coming from South Africa?

| We matched with a South African au pair back in September and qualify for the exception visa (NIE), but she is unable to get a visa appointment! After a month she got an automated email from the consulate saying they have received her request. That’s it! Does anyone know of any SA APs coming recently, or has the country stopped issuing visas for APs for the time being? |

It is the US consulate. I hear they have left people stranded in many parts of the world.
I even know an h1b worker that is now remote as the consulate is closed He is in India and unable to get back, has car and apartment here |

Before covid, a lot of South African au pairs were being denied. A lot of them stay here illegally.
