Hi all, I'm new to the nanny game and have a question about offering health insurance. Can anyone tell me the best way to do this? I'd like it to be tax deductible, and think I could do this with an ICHRA. Can you let me know your experience with this? Best place to look for setting one up? Any drawbacks I'm not thinking of? TIA for the help. |
If nanny already had her own health insurance plan, I’d offer her a stipend toward her monthly premium. |
look into QSE-HRA. If you are using a payroll service, they will set it up for you in a way it isn't taxed. |

We found the easiest way was to just cover the health insurance ourselves (split between two families). |
Unless you are very wealthy, do not offer Health Care to a Nanny. Save that money and put it in a college fund / trust fund for your kids. It will accrue money. |

If you are in DC, we provide our nanny with health insurance through DC Health Link. They have info about tax credits for small employers who provide health insurance.

What if your nanny gets sick and doesn't want to go to the dr because they can't afford it so they just show up for work because they can't afford to lose a day's pay? Sometimes the big picture has to do with everybody not just you. |
+1 Their website can be tricky to navigate but their phone support is phenomenal. |
