Au pair flying into DCA after curfew RSS feed

I can't go get her right? Hotel by the airport?

Sorry my adult brain is broken tonight.

Look up rules surrounding curfew, but if truly not allowed I’d just have her take a cab and stay on the phone with you the whole time?

I don’t know if car travel is truly disallowed.

hotel at the airport. Only essential people are supposed to be out there, dont take any chance, this country has gone crazy.

Why not just call the police non-emergency line and verify whether you can or not? Get the name and badge number for whoever it is, if you get an affirmative answer, that way you can give both to the police if you’re pulled over (unlikely, but possible).

I would think you are allowed to get someone at the airport. Don't have them fly in and take a cab or figure it out themselves.

You can drive. Just choose your route carefully and avoid the downtown area.

You'll be totally fine. There aren't checkpoints on the roads entering DC. Just avoid downtown or any protesting hotspots.

OP reporting back. Going to leave the district before curfew and find a place to wait in NOVA. Then when it come time to return I am going to enter the district at the point closest to my house and hope for the best.

Op - I'm a journalist so have been out driving during the curfew. I promise it will be fine. Just really try to avoid going through the downtown area.

If none of you are black/brown you are probably fine. Saying this as a black person who will not take my chance with confronting the policy or army or national guards in this climate.

If you are going to the airport it is fine. You bring a copy of the flight information.

Why on earth would she stay on the phone the whole time? I would hate that.
