No actual conversation yet, but parent who needs a sitter is emailing me an awful lot of personal questions. Wondering if it could be a scam. |
Any time I feel a sense of uneasiness I trust it.
Maybe you could respond to the parent and address the general nature of the question without being specific? So, if they're asking for your address presumably that is to figure out how close you are to where they live. You could say something like "I'm not comfortable giving specific personal details like exact address but I live in X neighborhood, so less than a 5 minute drive and I have my own car." Or whatever... You could also say that you are careful about sharing personal information electornically but would be happy to talk by phone, provide references, etc... |
No. It sounds like a scam. |
I would absolutely feel comfortable telling them my neighborhood, but them asking for the address is creepy and inappropriate. Lack of appropriate boundaries can be a problem. |
MB here I just cared about whether people had a reliable form of transportation. |
Why do they need your address? MB here... we did ask where our nanny lived but it was more to gauge her commute. She told us the general vicinity and we were fine with that. |
Always go with you gut feeling. I would also block her. |
I’m fine with providing my information for a new background check... but only after doing an initial interview. I run a background check once every two years, and I’m happy to furnish it upon request during/after the interview. |
It might be a spam. If not, if you feel that are the parents. No way. It is not appropriate from their part ask for your adress if you don't know you or you don't even know them. You can tell them where, maybe mention the neighborhood DC, VA or MD live to give them and idea. They can not ask you you adress just like that. I would not give mine. Be careful. |
No I would not. |
I wouldn’t give my home address to a stranger online.
If the person needs to know where you will be coming from - give an intersection near you or a landmark. Also, if you feel this could be a scam, then go w/your gut on this one. Good luck. |
