Have you cared for babies before? Has the baby taken a bottle from other people?

So you have the baby for a week only? and the Mom is leaving you with a bottle and the baby has never taken a bottle before?
This seems cruel to me. To you and the baby. Why would you do this?

Aove PP again, if this is the case you just need to keep trying. How old is the baby?

Do you have any experience working w/infants?

If the baby is being exclusively being breastfed, & hasn’t had a bottle yet......then I find it harsh that the Mother would leave her baby w/you and a bottle.
Like another poster stated - - harsh for both you AND the baby.

Hopefully that is not the case however.
My best advice would be to make sure the milk is warm.

Other than that, good luck.
Hopefully the baby has had some bottle feeding experience.
If not, hopefully Mom will be very supportive of any challenges that you may endure.

Hope this helps!

I have infant experience but unfortunately never been in that kind of situation.
Mom will leave but visit every three hours .
Thanks again

If the baby is hungry enough they'll figure out the bottle. Bottle are actually easier to suck from so it might take a few tries to get them to use it but then they might start to prefer it. If the baby won't suck at first, try to squeeze a little milk from it into their mouth so they understand what it is.

Good luck.

So not true for all babies.

Transitioning from breast ->> bottle varies by age as well as each individual child.

OK fine, the baby will starve to death. Survival of the fittest. Good luck.
