My 15 month old charge has a bad cold. Today, when I arrived, he ran over to me and said, “Nanny! Nose! Fix please”. We stayed home and played and read at least fifty books. At nap time, we cuddled while I kept him upright near the humidifier - holding him while he slept (doctor’s orders) which I haven’t done since he was a newborn. When I left tonight, he walked over and kissed my hand.

No other job can swell your heart like a nanny job!

I posted this last year but it’s the sweetest thing a charge has ever said to me:

My little charge was five and we were talking about different occupations. “What do doctors do?” - “Doctors keep us healthy.” We went through about five occupations when I asked him, “What do nannies do?” And he thought for just a second and said, “Nannies give us love”.

Such a sweetheart!

MB here. When I took my 4 year old to his doctor's appt a few weeks ago the doctor was running through a few questions with him and one of them was "how many people are in your family?" And he answered 4 plus 2 pets.

Doctor looked at me and I was puzzled because it's just DH, DS, and me (plus our pets). So I asked "who are the 4 people?" and he gave me that 'are you stupid mommy' look and said "Daddy, Mommy, me, and Ms. [nanny]".

She's been with us since he was a little over a year so def. part of the family. But thought it was sweet he considers her to be as well.

My son also insisted his nanny was his family. He actually got into his first verbal argument ever about it with my MIL!

This was several years ago, so I don’t remember exactly what was said. I was homeschooling a family, and the 2yo felt left out. On his 3rd birthday, he was more excited to get his own workbooks and “do school” like the big kids than he was to see his toys or cake. Absolutely hilarious, especially since the “workbooks” were just glorified coloring books that he colored for ~5-20 minutes per day before running back to his toys and puzzles!

I have no clue where the “employers” came from! I meant my THEN three-year/old charge!

I take care of a 2 yr old boy who is easily my favorite kid ever. He's got such a snuggly little spirit, but can also be exasperating when he tests boundaries too.

A few days ago he said "you beautiful." I said "no, you're adorable." He said "I not dorable, you beautiful." it was cute.

This is embarrassing but made me laugh really hard when it happened and again later. Today I farted and he looked surprised and looked around and asked "what dat sound? Dat not me!" He grabbed his bottom and kept looking around "where dat fart sound?" I laughed soooo hard!

5yo today:

“You’re in time out! You’re on red!” (I took the iPad he snuck while I was rousting the other child. Red is the “in trouble” color at school.

“I want cuddles.” (Bedtime, parent 1 out of state, parent 2 working)

I must be forgiven!

I have been taking care of a 5 year old girl since she was born and last week I asked her what do you want to be when you grow up ? and she said I would like to be your health care companion because you are going to be really old and I can drive you to your dr appointments and give you bland food. Awww that was sweet!

4yo: Are you my nanny? (I started when she was 3 days old but we dont rwally use the term nanny)
Me: Yes! Why do you ask?
4yo: I watched a movie called Mary Poppins and she was magical just like you. Mommy said Mary Poppins was a nanny so I KNEW you were one too!

I’m visiting a now six-year-old former charge today. Last night on FaceTime he said, “You know, Nanny, I’m never going to be too old to love you”.

My charge told me that when he gets to heaven he will look for me so that we can play together. That’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.
