I just need somewhere to explode with joy - feel free to ignore me!
Tuesday, I’m starting a new job with a wonderful new MB and kids. The first 18 months with my current family went so well, but for the past year I’ve gotten short checks, been given a 1099 (they wrote checks from their business but for less than my hourly rate, so I assumed they were taking out taxes and squaring it away it’s their accountant like they always have before), denied my guaranteed hours (claiming they don’t believe they’ve ever paid me when they were out of town, which is just a blatant lie), denied a newborn raise (they told me that “I just got a raise”, which was an annual raise of $1/hr, not even CLOSE to adding a newborn to the mix), and just disrespected all around (increases hours after saying no, not coming home on time). I thought things would get better with MB back at worse (why, I don’t know) but after 6 months of no change, it’s time for me to go. The only reason I held on so long is for the sweet babies. My new MB has sent me an excellent contract which I can edit as I wish, all the information for the payroll company she’ll be using, 3 weeks paid vacation (one of their choosing), sick days, PTO, and they have 3 amazing, well-behaved kids that they ACTUALLY want me to discipline. I’ve been getting the silent treatment (not from the kids, oddly enough) since giving my notice 2 weeks ago, so I am DYING to get out of here. |
Good for you OP!!
Just be cautiously optimistic here. Until you actually start this job - you actually will not know how things will pan out in the end. But it sounds very promising to me & I would be counting down the days until I could leave my miserable job too!! Keeping my fingers crossed things work out for the best!! ![]() Please keep us posted!! |
I hope it works out, OP. Good luck! |
All the best, OP!
I started my new job one year ago today and have honestly never been happier. I hope the same for you! |
There is a special place in hell for nanny families who cheat their nannies. I would diss them wherever possible. Signed, a MB who treats her nannies like one of the family. |
+1. There is a special place in hell for those you treat the nanny who loved their child like trash. Signed, another MB |
I would report her and take her to small claims court. |
OP here. I’m giving them the option to pay what I’ll owe in taxes as an independent contractor rather than an employee since they made the “mistake” and gave me the wrong tax forms. If they choose not to do that, I’ll tell them I’ll be filing an 8919 and they’ll likely be audited. Thanks to my husband’s job (though it’s also the reason I owe so much), we’re not in dire need of the money so I can wait for the forms to go through and do this well. |
Good for you! |
