AP went to DMV DC for driver license and she failed the vision test. She wear glasses and tell me she changed her glasses one month before coming here. She says she couldn't see anything with her glasses on. This is a bit odd imo.
They gave her a paper to get her vision assessed by an ophthalmologist. -Any recommendation where she could go? we know AP assurance don't cover much. -I am guessing this is a language issue more than a vision issue, if I go again with her to a different DMV do you think we will have better luck or is she in the system as needing vision assessment? TIA |
If the AP couldn't see with her new glasses on(and you say she said that), I assume it means either her new glasses prescription is wrong or her vision has lowered drastically again.
Try costco for a vision test (about 95$ for a full check up) If she can't see far away you would be unreasonable to try and get her to pass the test through a less strict DMV. Why would you put her (and your kids!) at risk by letting her drive without full vision? I own glasses and if I was to drive without my glasses I would not be able to read ANY of the signs. When my glasses are wrong, it can lead to pretty terrible and debilitating headaches, once they did my glasses wrong and so it seemed like everything was bent and it made me extremely nauseous and dizzy. Have her sight assessed and ensure she has the appropriate glasses and then try again at the DMV. |
OP here, I 100% agree with you and wouldn't take a chance on something like that. But she is been with us for 5 months and has never complained about headache or anything. She is been prepping for her test while reading books and taking computer tests. I am just shocked that she couldn't even read one very big letter. She told me the lady she had was really unfriendly, impatient but also didn't know lot of stuffs. For example asked her for a translation when she didn't need one (manager solved that one). Anyway we will try Costco, thank you for the tip! |
My Eye Doctor also has cheap packages that include an exam and glasses. |
Could she still see with her old glasses? Does she still have the old pair of glasses or can she have them mailed? Her newer prescription could have been incorrect or the glasses made incorrectly. |
