Gift for former nanny, now occasional sitter? RSS feed

We had a wonderful full-time nanny for several months this summer who now does very occasional sitting for us. We miss her as our full-time nanny, but our schedule doesnt work with hers. She is babysitting for us once in December. Would a small ($40) gift be appropriate in this situation?

Yes, but I wouldn’t give less than $50.

And no more than $75.

Forty dollars seems too low.

Make it $50.00.

$40 is fine. Whatever amount you’re comfortable with is fine in ANY gift giving situation.

Just to be clear, OP are you referring to a cash gift of $40 or a budget of $40?

As a former nanny to charges I still see and visit-a card made by the kids with the cash or Visa card stuffed inside, a holiday photo and hugs would mean more than an actual gift for me personally. Especially if she doesn’t have a full time family that would be giving her a bonus. Never know when she could use it for groceries or something more specific to what she’d like.
