| With the holidays and family birthdays coming up, I’d like to establish an agreement with AP about gifts. Basically I really would rather she save her money instead of buying things DH and I don’t need. I don’t want to hurt feelings or be rude but I honestly don’t need her to buy me things, I’d rather she use her money for experiences. I’m sure the kids would like to have a xmas gift from her and we will of course give her a cash bonus and some fun gifts for xmas. I just don’t want any more stuff!! |

Then, just tell her so  Otherwise she'll get gifts for you.
I am a minimalist and I tell people not to bring a gift or to give something that can be eaten/drunk or used (an ticket for an experience). People are not used to that but it makes sense for me to let them know when they ask and most of them understand
