Hi guys
Posted here before about just being let go, after the family hired me, reassured me hundred times they wouldn’t move cross country, and now after 6 months they’re telling me they’re letting me go because they ARE moving cross country I was lied to from day 1 and many times thereafter I’m not upset about losing the job as I might have a new one lined up I’m upset because of the parents BETRAYEL Sooooo my question is I have to go back to work tomorrow and stick it out for another month However I don’t know how to do it How do I act around the parents How you keep cool lol I’m so nervous to go back tomorrow After the shock I’m now mad at them But I still want to be professional to get my weeks paid vacation paid out as I didn’t use any Thank you for any advice! |
| Make sure they are on the same page regarding vacation being paid. You only worked 6 months not a year so they may think you don’t get it. |
| You just act like a professional, like you are, because this is business, not personal. |
|
OP here
Yes they said they would pay me because I’ve worked 6 months and didn’t take any so that’s nice of them thank you! |

Nanny jobs end so this happens a lot. Be professional, generous and helpful to the parents - remember you need a great recommendation. But make your focus making sure the transition is going to be easy for the child. Talk to the parents about how they want to handle it.
I promise you, OP, if you act gracious and graceful it will pay off for you. They lied to you - that’s on them. Let it go and get a glowing recommendation. |
| Think about how none of this is the kid's fault; it sucks for him or her as well. Also think of it as a chance for you to look for a better job. If you have questions about payment, contract, etc., ask any clarifying questions that are unclear at the end of the day. Good luck to you. |
| Why start a new thread? What answer are you looking for? They may not have known about the move. Find a new job and move on. |
NP here. Stop being such an idiot and take your own advise - move on. You don’t like where the thread is posted - move on. Just do all of us a favor and MOVE ON to another site. |
+1. The best to you, OP. |
