I am joining a nannyshare and trying to figure out which payroll service to use. The other family uses HomePay through Care.com. They've been very happy with it but I'm wondering if another service is just as good and cheaper. For this first year, I'd like to use a comprehensive service to be sure it's done correctly (might consider DIY next year). Thoughts appreciated! |
GTM Payroll Services is cheaper than Homepay and provides basically the same comprehensive service. They also do workers comp if you need that. |
Check what your tax person would charge to set something up. GTM keeps a long hold on your cash. |
I've used Surepayroll and I've been happy with them. I've never had an issue. They charge about $50 per month. |
We use Nannychex and have been very happy |
The long hold is a huge issue for a lot of nannies. |
They have been absolutely terrible for us - I would never recommend them. Messed up our taxes in two states (our home and nanny's home are in different states). Had our nanny in tears and she couldn't even file her taxes because they did the forms wrong and it took too long for them to fix them. They messed up getting our side of the taxes fixed for so long that we got fines from the state for not filing correctly (they did end up paying the fines, but only after hours and hours of multiple calls). They typed account numbers in wrong so we had money withheld but the money never went where it was supposed to. I hate that company with every fiber of my being. |
Homework solutions. Not only are they the best, they genuinely work with both families and nannies to understand the industry, better industry standards and educate employers on legal issues. They have one of the only free tax calculators. |
