How much do you charge for 5-6h babysitting on Sundays? Capitol Hill, 2 young kids? Nanny with about 10 years experience, educated.

This is not what I charge but what I paid and it was worth every cent, particarly holidays, as she also helped in kitchen and played with children so adults could have peaceful conversations!

More than your normal rate.

My brother worked at a grocery store all during high school and college. He worked every Sunday and (federal/state) holidays because he was paid double-time.

You are working a job just like he was working a job. You charge double for Sunday.

My cousin is a babysitter at an upscale beach resort (they are all college students and grad students mostly majoring in elementary ed and the like). The normal rate is $20 per hour but on Sundays they get $30. I think that is up to 2 kids and rate rises after that. it also rises if the sitter is needed after midnight, and other miscellaneous rules. Plus they get tips. (The parents pay a flat fee to the agency contracted with the resort, since the agency does all the background checks, insurance, etc.) It's a pretty good gig for students.

the OP should be getting around that range for Sunday or very late work.

i would do at least $25/h and that's for if we are sitting at home but if I am expected to take them out and about, I would ask $30/h.

I ask for $20/h. I’m in Los Angeles and usually charge that for 2 kids. Nobody wants to pay that though. It’s really hard to find a family who thinks that low enough.

I’m a nanny in LA (west side) and easily get jobs for $25 an hour for one child and I’ve negotiated for other nannies for the same rate (with a four hour guarantee). If you’re in the valley, consider driving over the hill when looking for babysitting jobs.

I work on Capitol Hill and I just charge $20 for babysitting for 1-2. My nanny rate for 2 is slightly higher.

I am in the valley. I’ve encountered a lot of families in the west side who contact me but I decline because it’s a minimum 30 min drive for me. Where do you find these people??

I'm in DC and get $30/hr minimum for any weekend sitting hours with a minimum of 5 hours per day.
