Housekeeper, what do they do and what is going rate?

Apologies if this is the wrong forum.

I think I need a housekeeper/babysitter but I am not sure what is the going rate or what they do or don't do.
I have 3 kids in school. So I need someone who will pick them up 3 times/week from the school across the street, spent about 1 hour with them until I come home, then help with some household chores such as laundry, folding, and light cleaning. So the schedule will be something like 3-7pm or 2-6pm 3 times a week (day and time flexible, but need 3-5pm covered). So is it a housekeeper I am looking for? or an After school nanny who can do housekeeping? what is the going rate? where do I find them?

Sounds like you want a nanny/housekeeper. If I were you, I’d try to offer a few more hours, maybe come in at 12, clean up, get the kids, then prep/cook dinner until 6? I would’ve loved a job like that back when I was nannying. I would expect to pay around $20-25/hr for this. I only say add the extra hours because for the few hours you’d need, you’d have to offer at least $30 to get someone interested in the position. It’s often not worth it for someone to come out and only work 3-4 hours a day.

$30 - $35/hour. I'd post as an after school nanny who is willing to help out with household chores.

I agree that doing this part time may make it harder to find the right person but I advertised for and hired a nanny/housekeeper who has been with us for 3 years now.

It's full-time but she does the grocery shopping, errands, shuttling the kids, cleaning the house, and pre/afterschool care.

We pay just under $20hr (that's the averaged rate when OT is built in), plus a standard package of benefits.

It's a dream solution that makes our life work with much less stress.
