Social security for AP

How soon can I go to social security office after AP arrives? Trying to figure out when to take off. I heard if you go too soon her data might not be in the system yet.

The last two years, we went 10 days after AP entered the country and that was fine.

We go early in the week after arrival, usually Monday or Tuesday. Their “data” isn’t in a “system” yet so it doesn’t matter, she is filling out an application to get into the system. She will have had her visa for weeks or months already.

6:41 is accurate, 6:54 is not. Wait till the week AFTER her arrival in your home. I'd say the Thursday or Friday to be safe. I understand the info flow reflecting their actual entry into the country takes about 10 days to get to SS.

They say it takes 10 days, but you can try earlier. Our last APs have gone it at about 7/8 days and been fine.

Our AP arrived on Monday and we went to the social security office on Friday. No issues.

How many days after she entered the US was that? Because some spent a week at the academy.

We’ve had 4 au pairs go the Monday or Tuesday after arriving at our house (so 7-8 days after arriving in country) and never had any issue.

I've never gone. The APs go themselves.

oh wow really, i thought we had to take them there and bank and DMV? how do you make it work?

oh wow really, i thought we had to take them there and bank and DMV? how do you make it work?

We don't. I'll drive them there but it's up to them to wait in line and fill out the info. I always encourage them to go with another AP. I'd feel differently if our APs had serious language challenges but all of ours have spoken English well enough to do this on their own.
