Does the license truly have to be surrendered, or can the AP just take the test (knowledge and driving) instead of having it waived?
My AP is concerned about surrendering the license. |
I can understand your AP's anxiety about surrendering the license. But the process is SOOOO much easier than taking the tests. I suggest you ask your LCC to put your AP in touch we other German APs that did it. None of our German APs had problems getting it back once they returned to Germany. But even if it were to get lost, replacing a lost license upon arrival in Germany is not a big deal. |
Excellent guidance- thanks!!! |
Wait, I am not aware of this. Are you saying that if you have a German license, you can just get a driver's license without all the tests? |
Pretty much. Here is the information. (Scroll to the "Foreign Reciprocity Agreements" section.) http://www.mva.maryland.gov/drivers/apply/international-applicants.htm |
Virginia aps France and Germany just fill out a form. |
Thanks a lot! I have had so many APs, (6) but never from one of these countries with reciprocity, so I didn't know. About to welcome my first German AP, so that's good news. |
