NP. For the millionth time, this is the going rate in DC. Wages are actually going down... We pay $16, with guaranteed 5 hours of overtime, but we also provide all food and pay for healthcare.

Also single nannies are more expensive. If you have a spouse you probably have health insurance and can charge less.

I’m married and have health insurance. I would never lower my rate. My experience, skills, and ability to keep your baby alive are worth more than $16/hr.

Our nanny is great and happy with the pay, which amounts to $40K plus four weeks vacation, health insurance and free food. There are many sources of data other than me. For example:

Great...I highly doubt bc if she was, she would be making more. Happy...she doesn’t have a choice as she clearly wasn’t getting hired by anyone else. Seriously ask yourself, why would a great or even smart nanny take such low pay when they can make more. Glassdoor can list your pay as average and that’s perfect for average nannies. However, it still stands, your rate is for those who really can not afford a nanny and should be looking into daycare. No smart and qualified nanny would accept your wage. I make significant more than your nanny, receive every federal holiday off paid, 5 paid sick days, 2 weeks paid vacation, bonuses, and free food (this is not some special perk you think it is. It’s called being hospitable to the person taking care of your child). I don’t need health insurance through my job. Your package isn’t great for experienced nannies who know their worth.
