Hello everyone, I have been in a nanny share for year now, they would like to have me for another year. In my new contract there isn't any raise. Right now I'm making $24 with 15+ years of experience. I have done two other nanny share and they have always given me a raise. |
So sit down with them and talk about the new contract. Do not sign it until you have spoken with them. Explain that you would like a raise or something in lieu of a raise, ie more PTO. |
Other alternatives to a raise:
Early out (half day) one Friday per month (paid) 1-2 extra PTO days per year, at your discretion Extra towards health insurance Payment towards your cell phone (if used for the job) Metro card (if applicable) Payment towards college or other continuing education, if applicable to job |
I always present my families with the reasons why I feel like I have been an asset to their family, the ways I go above and beyond, the quality of care I provide (with examples because they aren’t there to witness), the flexibility I’ve had, etc. I then tell them what I would like my income to be raised to, which is negotiable, though I don’t present it as such and also don’t present it as a demand. |
Many don't get raises yearly so if they don't it may not be something they think about. |
how much did you ask for? |
Always expect an annual raise, unless they’re having a financial crisis of some sort. |
OP here, no they didn't give me a raise, but they want me to sign a new contract. I was offer another position in VA for $70,000. So next week will be my last week. |
Congratulations!! |
Congrats! |
Congrats!
Just curious (nanny here), how many kids and hours? |
OP here, 50 hours, two children. |
OP here again, thank you all. |
Good for you! Maybe next time they will give their nanny a raise. All the best to you. |
Congratulations!! |
