shut up! I am tired of seeing all these anonymous posters telling nannies they will be fired once they share that they are pregnant. Has this actually happened to you or someone you know? Or are you just making assumptions based off a corporate world, which, lets be honest, half of you don’t even consider being a nanny a real job so how does this apply? We come on here asking specific questions and I have never seen a nanny ask “will I get fired right away when I share I’m pregnant?” Yet, all I keep seeing is “be prepared to get let go when you tell them” PLEASE STOP! I challenge any nanny on here to share their story when they do tell the family to give current and future pregnant nannies hope. I work in DC and I have seen tons of nannies who are pregnant out and about with their charges. Please don’t let these posters, who have not walked in your shoes discourage or stress you out.

I personally was hired to replace a pregnant nanny.
How long did you employ your pregnant nanny, OP? Please tell us about it from your own personal experience. |
The nanny who works with me (two nanny household) was replaced as soon as our employers found a replacement.
Seriously, why wait? If you were an employer and you knew you were going to lose your nanny in October but found a great replacement in May, would you really pass up hiring the great replacement? |
I was hired to replace a pregnant nanny who was fired. I know this only because one day she showed up st the house, rang the doorbell and told me. |
I worked thru my both pregnancies... when I had my first child I was home with her for two months before going back to work to the same family (brought the baby with me). I started working for this family 1 week before I found out I was pregnant. The second pregnancy I chose not to bring the baby to work due to having 1 toddler and 1 preschooler and it was winter (stayed home for 3 months). My mom took care of the baby while I was at work (I was able to bring him to work whenever I wanted). I was with this family for 5 years. Both times the families hired temporary nannies. |
Has happened to several people I know. Why the rage? |
