I have never met an au pair from Spain even though we hosted for 6 years...consideringnone this time around. Thoughts on driving? How about expectations for the program? |
I knew a Spanish AP who was a terrible driver and rematched twice for car accidents before going home. |
I have known several LOVELY Spanish au pairs. Their English is usually very good and they had a lot of warmth and sweetness to them. All of the Spanish au pairs I have known had no driving issues. I am a former LLC and host mom so my experiences were both professional and personal. |
Our neighbors had the most amazing ap from
Spain. She stayed 2 years and was a good friend to our two aps. They really miss her! |
We had a lovely AP from Spain and met many of her friends -all really nice girls.
A few things: - The level of English can vary - They tend to follow a very Spanish pattern of eating late and staying out even later. They weren't big drinkers but would still come home very late at night. It wasn't a problem for us as long as she was at work on time the next morning. - Our AP was very picky about food and rarely ate with us. She ate a TON of fresh fruit but other than that ate pretty simply. She also had no interest at eating at 6 like the rest of us. This was fine for us but may not work for someone who wants their AP to eat dinner with the family. - They travelled a ton. Again, this was fine for us and actually very nice to get the house to ourselves most weekends. Overall we were very happy with our Spanish Au Pair but I would consider if the Spanish lifestyle is a good fit. |
