Film Screening Next week RSS feed

Hello,

I wanted to share an invitation for the special screening of The S Word on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 6:30-8:30 pm at AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center. A report recently released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) showed that rates of death by suicide in the United States have risen by roughly 25 percent in the last couple decades and it is now the second leading cause of death for people ages 15 to 24 in the U.S. The S Word is a groundbreaking documentary that shatters the silence around suicide and reveals a movement of survivors from a cross-section of America fighting to change how we deal with our ultimate taboo. If you are not familiar with the film, I invite you to watch the trailer: https://vimeo.com/189549300.

Admission is $5 per person and proceeds will go to crisis prevention and intervention services at EveryMind. To obtain more information and reserve a seat, please visit: http://bit.ly/TheSWord2018.

Please help us in making this event a success by sharing this invite with your network. This event is open to all. I hope to see you on the 25th!

This event is being hosted by The Montgomery County Department of Health, Suburban Hospital, Adventist HealthCare, EveryMind, Holy Cross Health, MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, and Healthy Montgomery.

Wrong forum. This is a forum for nannies and the parents who employ nannies. Very few nannies are under 25 and even fewer parents. Try the teen forum or other forum.

While I think that many nannies/governesses/tutors who work with preteens and teens should see this, the reality is that most can’t get to a 6.30 showing on a Thursday, especially up in Silver Spring. By the way, since not everyone is familiar with what AFI Silver Theatre and Cultural Center is (I had to look it up), you may want to include the address when you post it to the teen forum.

Thank you, OP. This documentary is very important. I read about it last night. Everyone needs to be aware of suicide warning signs and where to get immediate help.

Btw, the Gosnell movie is another important documentary now out at certain places, including Hoffman AMC in Alexandria. It's appropriate for adults and high school students. It contains no opinions, only the facts as they happened.
