Hi parents and nannies,
What's the going rate for 1. Nanny share in Rockville area? 2. Nanny for one in Rockville area? |
ages?
hour many hours per week/day? what benefits will be offered? (paid sick days, paid personal days, federal holidays?) |
There is no true “going rate” for childcare. You list what you are willing to pay with the understanding that truly exceptional and experienced nannies do not come cheap.
For a nanny share I’ve seen anywhere between $10-$15 per family. Although I think anything under $12 is very cheap. For a single infant, anywhere between $18-$25. |
Thank you. It would be a newborn 6 months old, 2 weeks of vacation, 10 sick days, all federal holidays observed eill be paid. It would also be a part-time. Job responsibilities are exclusive to baby care. |
part time has a massive range -- 5 hours per week? 35? |
Right. Fewer hours get more pay, and nannies prefer longer blocks of time, to make the commute worth it. |

Agree with PPs. If you are doing part-time, rates are higher. Some nannies won't accept jobs that are less than 2-3 hours at a time if you are thinking of before or after daycare. If you are thinking of two long days, you might have better luck. Also, if you don't want a lot of turn over, you'll want to pay higher.
For the rate, how much experience do you want nanny to have? If you are okay with little to no experience, then you can find someone for around $18-$20/hr. If you want highly experienced nanny, that's more like $25-$35. |
This post is from June. Someone bumped it to put their number. |
