If you are looking on your own (no agency) about four to six weeks before you want the nanny to start - and she should start while you are still on leave so that everyone is comfortable when you leave for work that first day.

| Six weeks before your start date is generally the best. But place the ad (if you are doing a care.com ad) a week ahead of the six weeks and make your posting absolutely specific. You will have about 200 responses so be prepared. |
