Background Check RSS feed

Recently a family ran a background check on me through sittercity, and I got an email stating that "the background check uncovered records that make me ineligible for a membership." I have no clue what thats about. I have had many background checks done through care and have had a membership. I also had a security clearance, which, just expired at the end of 2017, so I'm like "what the heck!" They said they will send me something in the mail. Has this happened to anyone? This is the first time I've used their site.

Perhaps consider allowing the parents the opportunity to do a check using a more reputable company. I really wouldn't trust sittercity or careless. They're known to be sloppy about background checks. I also don't give permission for credit information, unless I'll be handling their finances.

Sounds like they had some information from someone with the same name appear on your record. When you get the background check in the mail, it’s required to be all of the information that was used to deny you membership. So, call the company that ran the check, dispute whatever appeared that was your doppelgänger’s information, and have them resubmit to sittercity.

I had to dispute information through my care check, although it wasn’t anything thing which would have made me a danger to children.

Ah. I’m definitely going to look out for this paper and if I can, call. I have absolutely nothing on my record, so I am curious to know what the issue(s) were.. Thank you!

Thank you! I will definitely call. And when I think about it, I didn’t use my middle name and I always do, even though it’s optional. Now, I don’t know if I should say something to that family who ran it (because I don’t know what came up) or if I should just wait- it’s just for occasional babysitting but I don’t like this, knowing it’s nothing on my record.

I think the co. that runs the background check is named Lexis Nexis.

The website promised to mail me a copy of my background check too a few years back, but I never received it & I just let it go.

Op here and I called about my background check. They said that in 2014, my registration was expired. So because my registration was expired, FOUR years ago, my account will be deactivated?! It doesn't even say why my registration was expired, which, at the time, was due to an overlaps in my auto insurance. So now I have to contact sitter city. THEY SUCK! I told the lady "you do know that its 2018, right?! The way the notice was presented, made me think somebody stole my identity or they had the wrong information.
