| Looking for some fun activity ideas for two small children besides the library and museums. Maybe does anyone have a storytime list. ( I understand that defeats the besides library and museum part of my last statement) what do other nannies daily for outings |

I insist on proper outerwear for my charges (waterproof boots, snow pants, down parka, hats, wool socks and waterproof mittens), so we venture out in all weather to botanical gardens, hiking spots, statue gardens near the Mall, where we are just walking around.
Most weeks there is at least one day that is warm enough for a brief visit to playground (needs to be at least 40 so they can take off mittens and wear sneakers to climb). We have a membership at one indoor play space so we do that on the yuckiest day each week. We go to a museum once a week. We take the bus a lot even though I have a car for them because it means they walk a lot more, so if we do something small like a children’s toy store or book store or library or a pet store to see the fish tank, they still get a bit of fresh air and exercise. Where are you located and maybe we can help. |
You don't need down parka's and wool socks in this area. I wouldn't buy myself that let alone my kids. |
Typical ditzy parent. It's been below freezing all week. Dress your children accordingly. |
You absolutely need both those things if you are going to be outside for long stretches below freezing. While this is certainly and overall temperate climate, it does get plenty cold enough in the winter to require proper cold weather gear or staying indoors. If you are taking small children out without that stuff, you are putting them at risk. If you are huddling inside, that is robbing them of fresh air and exercise. |
Each county has it’s own list of story times. Check out the nature centers, they usually have great programs. Check community centers for programs. This isn’t hard, op. There are specialty places that cater to specifics like gymnastics or music. |
