My charge has been puking and having diarrhea all day long RSS feed

Her mom didn't tell me she's been sick until I figured it out myself. She says it's 100% food poisoning. I am a nanny who brings my child to work. This week since MB is having her house painted I have been hosting at my house. This girl has puked all over my house today. My rug is ruined. How can you be 100% positive your 3 year old has food poison? MB thinks her child ate expired peanut butter and oranges. Lately I really feel like her mom is an idiot. She ruses to vaccinate and doesn't want her child going to preschool. She has no interest in starting potty training. Perhaps it's time to cut ties and let someone else deal with this weird parent.

OP here. I meant to write refuses to vaccinate. She thinks the child needs to be older.

Wow, no way....

You should have cut the ties when you found out she wasn't going to vaccinate.

Poor little kid. I hope it is good poisoning. Otherwise you are in for a rough week.

OP here. I recently found out she hasn't had any vaccinations. Her mom has been very unresponsive in general during the day.

She ate expired peanut butter and expired oranges? Riiiight. That's not only improbable, but those are both foods where the food having gone bad would be REALLY obvious AND where food poisoning is unlikely.

Not only is your house messed up, but now in the next few days or so, you AND your child will likely fall ill yourselves.

This parent should have stayed home today & cared for her own poor child.

Shame on her for not doing so.

Yes, you need to quit.
Let someone else deal w/this clueless Mother, I agree!

So, the mother gave her kid rotten oranges and molded peanut butter (that was several years old?) Because it takes a long time for peanut butter to expire. I would take the kid to her workplace, drop her off with her mother, and tell her that I'm quitting because she's incompetent and that her child needs to be seen by a doctor.

When you find a new position, because that is obviously what you need to do, be sure to negotiate all of this upfront and have a contract. Vaccinations are key as well.

Op here: I don't think the oranges or peanut butter were actually bad. It's so bizarre. I hope it's not a stomach virus. I'm pretty sure I ate that same peanut butter about a week ago. I was very firm with the mom tonight. I explained she must tell me prior to coming in if her daughter is vomiting. She said she thought it was a one time thing and she would be fine.

I would give her a bill to place my rug and then we end and relationship. You for not get food poisoning from oranges or old peanut butter. I have eaten year old PB send no ill effects.

Wow you are so quick to judge the mother cut her some slack. FWIW I ate some peanut butter which had some weird stuff on top not thinking and I had diarrhea but no vomiting as I rarely/never. That reminds me I have some leftover cut up oranges in fridge that look ok butI should probably throw out..

I would judge a parent who did not inform me that their child was vomiting the night before.
