Is there a service I can hire that would come to my home in time for a 6 am wake up with my 3 yo - say from 6-9 am, for one weekend day per week? DH is deployed and I just miss sleeping in so much! We used to split weekend wake up duty and I looked forward to my sleep in day all week!

We give our 3yo an ipad on weekend mornings, we leave it next to her bed along with some cereal and snacks. I know this sounds awful but we're so tired on weekends and those few extra hours make such a difference. She turns it on and watches Dora without making a peep!
Thanks to your family for your service.

Three might be a touch too young for this, but my parents prepared breakfast for me the night before (my favorite junk cereal) and told me I could watch whatever I wanted until the clock said 9. I was probably 4 when this started. Good luck!

Yes. That service is called "Grandma's house."

Give your kid an iPad or kindle, bring them into your bed and go to sleep and tell them not to get off the bed until they wake you.

What area are you in?

Yes, you can get a babysitter for those hours. Maybe a nanny who wants to pick up an extra $80 in cash and is an early riser. We had a great Saturday nanny/preschool teacher for a few years - she was expensive at the time ($23 an hour) but so worth it! She worked 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM. DS still loves her and asks about her every single day (she still sees him every couple of weeks). They used to have a great time together. She had keys to get into the house and just came in quietly and waited for him to wake up.

We are on the orange line in Arlington. I've tried tv etc but it really only works for an hour. My kid is on the young side of three (January birthday).

While this is a wonderful idea for parents that live near family, the reality for most service members is that family is far away and they don’t have anyone to fall back on when they need a break! It can be very lonely and overwhelming and I’m sure that just exaggerates the need to get those few precious hours of sleep. I’m sure she wouldn’t be asking if this service existed if she had other options.

I know a nanny who does some early-morning services. I'd look/post on care.com or a similar site and you might be able to find someone.

Hey Gabby, your website is nice. Something to consider.... change your about me photo to a professional photograph. The selfie type picture is off-putting.

Hi! Yes, I know! I am working on getting a professional picture done. In the meantime, I at least wanted parents to match a face to name- so far so good! Thank you for checking it out and giving me feedback!
