My DS stayed home from preschool yesterday because he had a fever and just felt blah. Found out nanny took him over to a friends to play in the afternoon.
I told the nanny that if DS was too sick not to go to school, he shouldn't be around other kids. Just curious if others on the board agree with this. |
| Was he better and normal by the afternoon? |
No, he needed Tylenol for his fever at 2 pm. |

58 year old nanny here. I think they should have stayed home.
A bit of a walk and some fresh air at some point in the day would have been okay as it is nice to get out of the house a bit, but otherwise I think the day should have been kept low-key. |
| Definitely should have kept him home. Did she LEAVE him at the other house or stay with him? Sounds like the nanny was getting bored. |
| I'm with you OP. And if I were the other mom I'd be pretty annoyed. |

If he's too sick for preschool, he's too sick for friends. A little fresh air could be good, but not a visit.
Our da care has a policy of waiting at least 24 hours after the last fever. It's common courtesy not to bring your germy kid places. |
| Too sick for school means too sick to go out. Kid should be home resting. Maybe if he is feeling better, sitting outside reading to get some fresh air. |
I would be annoyed too. Your kid should rest at home if he's got a fever, and he should also not be around other kids to make them sick. Your nanny needs to understand the rules on this. |
