Nanny lost a lot of weight through illness. I keep being told by various other moms that she looks far too skinny, tired and pale. She is still performing well at work, should I be worried?

This is really the only thing that's your business in any way. I would focus on that and not go looking for reasons to worry. I'd also shut down this kind of conversation w/ other mothers.

If I was your nanny, I would be pissed off at you and hurt. Your nannies health is her business unless it starts to affect her ability to do her job. When and if it does, it's your families business, not other mothers or neighborhood families. I sign confidentiality agreements with employers to not discuss anything outside of the home. I would be upset if I found out my employer was discussing my weight loss and health status with mothers. Talk to your nanny if you feel it's impacting her job, but have some respect to not gossip about it with other mothers or your friends.

This. Stop gossiping about her with other moms. Keep doing so and she might end up quitting.

How do you know she is performing well? Other mothers report she looks tired — that doesn’t sound like what you want in a nanny.

That sounds REALLY insensitive. Almost as if the OP shouldn't care about her nanny as a person, and solely just an employee.

Wow. I hope other MBs do not think this way!!
