Moving expenses for Nanny RSS feed

We are moving to a new house about 45 minutes away. The traffic from our new house to nanny's apartment would be horrific and nanny said that she will move to our new neighborhood when we move.

This is an extraordinary nanny that I do not want to lose. She has been with us for over two and half years and I want her to stay with us.

I was thinking about giving her ample time off to pack as well as pay for her movers. What else should I offer or do?

Thanks!

Would you consider giving her first, last and a security deposit for her new apartment?

Moving is an unbelievable hassle and so expensive. She is leaving her neighborhood for you.

A family I know bought a condo near their new house and let the nanny live in it rent-free!

I would give her paid time off to pack or pay for the movers to pack for her.

When I had a corporate move they covered
Movers
Pet boarding and transportation
My transportation - I flew and they shipped my car to minimize time away from work
Temporary paid housing while I looked for a new place
Daily per diem for meals the entire time I was in temporary housing

For an in town move I would cover the movers, time to deal with the move, and some cash to help with meals the week of the move

I would also give her a two-year guarantee of employment.

+1 and OP you must be a very generous employer for your nanny to make the decision to leave her neighborhood and community and move just for your sake!!

+2 You are lucky, OP - our nanny wouldn't leave her neighborhood for us when we moved across town. We have never found anyone as good as she was since and my DD still misses her.
