Hi , I am working with a family almost year. My job is taking care of 18 month baby and cooking for the family.
I work Monday to Friday different hours. Family wants me to work on Sunday and be off on Friday (Some times) But they wants me to take care of two child on Sundays . Baby and toddler. Now, here is issue I don't have any problem to work on Sunday. But on Friday I work 6 hours and on Sunday they wants me to work for four hours. If I ask them they are able to give me same Friday hours. But honestly I don't want to work on Sundays more then four hours. I am interested to know is that okay if I request them to pay me for six hours on Sundays but I will work for four hours. I can say them there is two kids and it's weekend. I am okay to work on Friday for six hours but they wants me to work on Sunday. So is that okay? I don't want to be rude that's why I want your guys advice. Taking care of two child is little hard. It's very different then others days I work. Thanks |
Nanny here. It sounds like a fair deal
You should totally ask to keep your pay and work 2 hours less. 2 kids = more work, and it's Sunday ! Good luck

Do you have guaranteed hours every week?
If they always pay you the same then you should be good. If they pay pay your hourly then you may have a problem. if this is the case I would say you don't want to switch days because it makes you short in your paycheck. |

Thanks for your kind replies. I don't want to say no . I know they need me on Sunday. I don't want to change days but they wants me to. So , if it's fair then I am going to ask them to pay me for six hours like Friday.
Thanks again |

You can say that you would charge a premium for Sunday (because it's Sunday). I.e. the price for agreeing to work on Sunday (i.e. on the alternate schedule) is that you get paid 1.5 times per hour what you would normally get paid.

| They pay me $22 hourly. Thanks |
| That not fear to work on Sunday. And then with extra child. They need to pay you a time and half. |
| Thanks I will talk with them. |

You definitely should be paid for any add’l children.
But your offer to them to be paid for six hours vs. four sounds fair + doable to me. I cannot imagine them declining your offer. |
| Thanks let me talk with them. Thanks for all replies. |
